FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -Santonio Holmes had to wait a while to get his career with the New York Jets started.
The former Super Bowl MVP was forced to sit out the first four games due to a suspension, but has been making up for lost time.
The speedy wide receiver has become one of Mark Sanchez’s go-to receivers and is thriving late in games – including catching the winning TD in overtime at Cleveland last Sunday.
Holmes says he enjoys getting the ball with the game on the line, and he has proven he can produce in big moments. Coach Rex Ryan says “there’s something different” about Holmes in that you can see “with his demeanor, his eyes” he wants to be the one who steps up.
After four seasons in Pittsburgh, Holmes has found a home in New York.
