JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Jaguars quarterback David Garrard left Monday night’s game against the Indianapolis Colts with a sprained left ankle.
He returned after missing two plays, but was back on the bench to start the second half. Team officials said he wasn’t expected to return.
Indianapolis’ Ed Johnson beat right tackle Tony Pashos and sacked Garrard for a 6-yard loss on first down early in the second quarter. Garrard called timeout, limped to the Jacksonville sideline and was replaced by Quinn Gray.
Garrard headed to the locker room and returned after getting his ankle re-taped. But Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio opted to stick with Gray after halftime.
Gray’s second pass was intercepted by Bob Sanders.
