RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Matt Hasselbeck says he showed up Monday morning more worried about how bad his performance against Atlanta looked on tape than if he was still the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks.
Hasselbeck said on Thursday that reviewing last week’s 34-18 loss to Atlanta “wasn’t fun” after Hasselbeck committed three third-quarter turnovers and was eventually pulled in favor of Charlie Whitehurst.
But coach Pete Carroll made a point to speak with Hasselbeck individually on Monday and later that day said Hasselbeck would continue as the Seahawks starter this week against Tampa Bay.
Hasselbeck said Carroll’s message was more about what the coaching staff can do to help him play better. Hasselbeck has 13 turnovers – 10 interceptions and three fumbles – in the past four games.
