NEW YORK (AP) – Hall of Famer Steve Young calls the current group of NFL players at his former position a “Camelot of quarterbacking.”
Young players such as the San Francisco 49ers’ Colin Kaepernick and the brilliant class of rookies are thrilling fans, while veterans like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are still going strong.
Kaepernick and the New England Patriots’ Brady are each playing in conference title games this weekend. The other two quarterbacks still alive, Atlanta’s Matt Ryan and Baltimore’s Joe Flacco, show the league’s current depth at the position.
CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus says: “I can’t remember – even though this is a quarterback-driven league – as many remarkable and compelling stories on the quarterback side as you’re seeing this year.”
