GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) -Pro Bowl receiver Chad Johnson won’t be practicing with the Cincinnati Bengals for a while because his right ankle hasn’t fully recovered from surgery.
Johnson didn’t participate in the Bengals’ first practice of training camp Monday, spending his time rehabilitating his ankle. He runs with a limp after having his ankle cleaned out last month.
Coach Marvin Lewis says there’s no timetable for his return to practice. Johnson is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Defensive end Antwan Odom hurt his left foot during practice and left the field on a cart. He went for tests to determine the severity of the injury. Odom was the team’s prime addition to the defense in the offseason, getting a five-year deal.
