FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini says he has improved greatly as a person since his days leading the New York Jets, and harbors no bitterness toward his former team.
Known for being tightlipped and dry during his three seasons with the Jets, Mangini was loose and funny at times during a conference call with New York media Wednesday.
Fired by the Jets after the 2008 season, Mangini says things are “less scripted for me” in dealing with the media and players and says he’s a “better person and a better coach” as a result of his time with New York.
He says he thought Rex Ryan, a friend, was a “great choice” in New York because Ryan’s defensive philosophy was similar to his.
