DENVER (AP) -Denver Broncos offensive guard Ben Hamilton was placed on injured reserve Saturday with lingering post-concussion symptoms.
The Broncos also released wide receiver Brian Clark. They filled the roster spots by promoting wide receiver Glenn Martinez and safety Steve Cargile from their practice squad.
Hamilton is a seven-year veteran who has missed all three of Denver’s games this year, breaking his streak of 5,407 consecutive snaps that began when he became the Broncos’ starting left guard in 2002.
Hamilton was injured on what he termed a “routine hit” early in training camp when he banged helmets with a teammate. He tried to come back but kept getting nauseated whenever he did cardiovascular work. He’s been seeing specialists in Pittsburgh for several weeks, and the Broncos decided it was best for him not to try to make a comeback this season.
Cargile was promoted to augment the depth at safety, where John Lynch (groin) will be a game-time decision Sunday at Indianapolis. Safeties Hamza Abdullah (hip) and Domonique Foxworth (ankle) have also been hurt.
