ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -The Denver Broncos have signed veteran defensive lineman Vonnie Holliday on the same day the team trimmmed its roster by releasing 12 players.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Holliday had 3 1/2 sacks last season for the Miami Dolphins.
Defensive lineman Tim Crowder was among the players cut Saturday by new Broncos coach Josh McDaniels. Crowder was taken by Denver in the second round in 2007.
The Broncos also let go tailback Darius Walker, who led the team in rushing during the preseason, and waived/injured cornerback Joshua.
Holliday, 33, is a 12-year defensive lineman who could clog up the middle for Denver in its switch to a 3-4 defense. He had 55 career sacks with Green Bay, Kansas City and Miami.
