ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -Bills starting strong safety Donte Whitner didn’t play in Buffalo’s game against San Francisco on Sunday, missing his second consecutive contest because of a separated shoulder.
Whitner was hurt in the fourth quarter of the Bills’ loss to the New York Jets on Nov. 2, and has now missed three of the last four games because of the injury. He played the first half of Buffalo’s Monday night loss to Cleveland on Nov. 17 before sitting out the final 30 minutes.
Bryan Scott started in Whitner’s place.
The 49ers were without two receivers, with starter Josh Morgan (groin) and Arnaz Battle (foot) were both inactive. Bryant Johnson replaced Morgan in the starting lineup.
San Francisco starting cornerback Walt Harris was active after being listed as questionable because of a hamstring injury.
