ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) – Buffalo Bills veteran linebacker Chris Kelsay has signed a four-year contract extension worth about $24 million that locks him up through the 2014 season.
Kelsay revealed on Wednesday that he signed the extension a day earlier, after the team approached him about three weeks ago. Buffalo’s 2003 second-round draft pick, Kelsay is a defensive captain. He is second, behind punter Brian Moorman, as the current team’s longest-serving player.
Kelsay, who was entering the final year of the original contract, is a six-year starter at defensive end. However, he moved to outside linebacker as Buffalo made the switch to a 3-4 defensive system this offseason. Through three games, he ranks second on the team with 19 tackles.
