CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey missed his seventh straight game Sunday against Carolina because of a lingering groin injury.
Safety Marlon McCree (ankle) missed his sixth straight game, while outside linebacker D.J. Williams was on Denver’s active roster after missing five games with a knee injury.
Bailey practiced last week, but it was determined he couldn’t play after he went through pregame warmups. That left rookie Josh Bell in Denver’s starting lineup.
Fullback Spencer Larsen (groin) also did not play against the Panthers. Running back Cory Boyd, recently signed off the practice squad because of injuries, was deactivated.
Carolina backup offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges was on the active roster. Bridges was deactived for last Monday’s game against Tampa Bay, a day after he was arrested for misdemeanor assault charges. The Panthers are not expected to take any further action until the case is decided in the courts.
d defensive end Hilee Taylor (calf) sat out for the second straight game.
D.J. Hackett was a healthy scratch in favor of Panthers second-year receiver Dwayne Jarrett.
