TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) – Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt says he will stick with rookie John Skelton at quarterback after the Cardinals ended their seven-game losing streak with a 43-13 victory over Denver.
Whisenhunt says Skelton, who made his first NFL start against the Broncos, gives Arizona the best chance to win. Skelton will start next Sunday at Carolina, even if former starter Derek Anderson is cleared to play.
Anderson was sidelined for the Denver game with a concussion.
Whisenhunt says that while Skelton made a lot of mistakes, he liked the way the youngster handled himself in the game. Skelton completed 15 of 37 passes for 146 yards with no interceptions and no sacks. His first seven passes were incomplete but four of them were dropped.
