Texans vs. Patriots Prediction
The Patriots are going to beat the Texans tonight at 8:15PM ET but will New England cover as a massive favorite?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Patriots are 15-point home favorites versus the Texans while the over/under currently sits at 44.5 points. Both the side and the total have moved off the original numbers, with the Pats going from -16 down to -15, and the total moving from 45 down to 44.5.
HOUSTON KEY TRENDS: The Texans are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven conference games and have failed to cover in six of their last eight road games as well. They’re also winless at the betting window at 0-4 in their last four games coming off a win and are 0-6 against the spread in their last six games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
NEW ENGLAND KEY TRENDS: The Pats are 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games versus the Texans and are 1-5-1 against the number in their last seven games overall versus Houston. The Patriots have also covered in 13 of their last 16 games overall, are 4-1 against the number in their last five Divisional round games, and are 4-0 at the betting window in their last four conference games.
OUR PREDICTION: The Texans are winless in Foxboro and that’s not going to change tonight. Jadeveon Clowney and their defense will keep them in the game early but at some point that unit is going to wear down when Brock Osweiler can’t move the ball versus New England. At some point Tom Brady will figure that Hosuton defense out and it’ll be all downhill for the Texans after that point. The home team is 6-1-1 against the spread in the last eight meetings between these two teams and the favorite is 4-1-1 against the number in the last six meetings.
NFL DIVISIONAL ROUND PREDICTION: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -15
