49ers vs. Chiefs Total Prediction
The Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the most entertaining teams in the NFL through the first two weeks of the season. Is there any reason to believe they won’t put up a lot of points again when they host the San Francisco 49ers at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday?
Game Snapshot
479 San Francisco 49ers at 480 Kansas City Chiefs
1:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, September 23
Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Chiefs are 6.5-point favorites to beat the 49ers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 56 points. As of this writing, 71% of the public betting tickets are on the Chiefs to cover the point spread.
San Francisco 49ers
49ers SS Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) didn’t practice on Wednesday. He suffered the injury in last week’s win over Detroit. It’s too early to determine his status for Week 3, but if Tartt ends up sitting Sunday at Kansas City, Antone Exum would slide in at safety opposite Adrian Colbert.
Kansas City Chiefs
Eric Berry (heel) remained sidelined at Wednesday’s practice. Berry has yet to practice this season. Jimmy Garoppolo’s matchup will be easier at Arrowhead if Berry is unable to return. George Kittle should also see more open space down the seamsif Berry indeed sits this one out.
NFL Betting Trends
San Francisco
The over is 4-1 in the 49ers’ last five games overall but the under is 4-1 in their last five road games.
Kansas City
The under is 45-19 in the Chiefs’ last 64 home games.
Prediction
If you’re playing the total, the only play is on the over. The Chiefs own one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL thanks to Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Kareem Hunt. Meanwhile, after a rough opening game in Minnesota against the Vikings’ stout defense, the 49ers got back on track last week offensively with a 30-plus point performance against the Lions. This Kansas City defense is bad and oddsmakers can’t set this total high enough for Sunday.
NFL Week 3 Prediction: 49ers/Chiefs over 56
