Packers vs. Broncos Preseason Pick
Is the betting total in tonight’s Packers and Broncos preseason matchup set too high?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Broncos are 3-point home favorites versus the Packers, while the over/under currently sits at 41.5 points. While the point spread hasn’t moved off the original number of 3, the total did drop from 42 down to 41.5.
GREEN BAY PACKERS: Green Bay has looked sharp in preseason play, beating the Eagles 24-9 in the opener and the Redskins 21-17 last week. Aaron Rodgers is already in mid-season form, completing 6-of-8 passes for 37 yards and a touchdown, while Brett Hundley looked sharp as well, going 9-of-10 for 107 yards and a score against Washington.
DENVER BRONCOS: The Broncos are also 2-0 in preseason play after beating the 49ers 33-14 last week. Trevor Siemian once again out-played Paxton Lynch, throwing for 93 yards on 8-of-11 passing and adding a touchdown. Lynch, meanwhile, was just 9-for-13 for 39 yards, which was good for a 3.0 yards-per-pass average.

OUR PREDICTION: I don’t think either offense will move the ball as effectively as they have in their respective preseason games. Rodgers looks sharp, but Washington’s defense is in the same category as Denver’s. And while Siemian has out-played Lynch, that’s not saying a lot. I like both defenses to shine in the first half, keeping the score low at halftime. If both teams do start scoring in the second half, hopefully it’s late enough not to push the combined score over because I like the under tonight.
