Eagles vs. Jaguars Pick
The Philadelphia Eagles look to make it two in a row on Sunday when they travel south to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. Here’s our free pick for this Sunday’s game.
Before making our free pick for this game, let’s take a look at the odds.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Eagles 3-point favorites over the Jaguars in Week 3. The over/under total for this game has been set at 44.5.
Andy Reid made a huge decision earlier this week to name Michael Vick the starting quarterback over Kevin Kolb, even though Kolb had won the job in preseason. Vick obviously gives the Eagles a more mobile quarterback and with the way he’s looked over the past two weeks, he certainly factors into this free pick selection.
The Eagles are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games in Week 3 and 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a favorite of 0.5-3.0. They’re also 4-0 ATS in their last five games as a road favorite.
The Jaguars, on the other hand, are just 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss and are 0-4 ATS in their last four games as an underdog.
The Free Pick:
The Eagles are playing with a lot of confidence under Vick right now, who is 37-of-58 passing for 459 yards and three touchdowns in his first two outings. Those are Pro Bowl-type numbers and if he continues to play as well as he has, Philadelphia could easily win the NFC East. One factor that I keep looking at in this pick is the lack of explosion the Jags have on offense outside of Maurice Jones-Drew. The Eagles have one of the most aggressive defenses in the NFL and if an opponent doesn’t have enough firepower to combat that aggressiveness, then it could make a long day for them. David Garrard was brutal last week in a loss to the Chargers and he could be in store for another tough outing this Sunday at home.
