Dallas Cowboys Fantasy Spin
Leighton Vander Esch (neck) is questionable for Week 9 against the Giants. Anthony Brown is also questionable, but Vander Esch is considered “more likely to play”. The linebacker suffered a stinger two weeks ago and is nearing a return. With Saquon Barkley on schedule, the Cowboys need all of the linebacker help they can get. Cowboys OT Cameron Fleming has been ruled.
New York Giants Fantasy Spin
Giants DC James Bettcher confirmed DL Leonard Williams will “definitely” play a big role Monday night against the Cowboys. Williams was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2015 draft and joins a defensive line that boasts first-round rookie Dexter Lawrence, second year third-rounder B.J. Hill and 2017 second-rounder Dalvin Tomlinson. Hopefully they can improve a defense that has allowed six yards per play (tied for 26th) and 7.8 net yards per attempt (tied for 29th).
NFL Betting Trends
Dallas
The Cowboys are 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 games versus NFC East rivals.
New York
The Giants are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous contest.
Prediction
The Cowboys are a perfect 5-0 against the spread in their last five games versus the Giants while the favorite has cashed in four of the last five meetings. This is a lot of points to hand a home underdog in a divisional matchup but when the Cowboys’ offensive line is healthy, which it is at the moment, they’re a completely different animal. Daniel Jones and the Giants move the ball well last Sunday in Detroit, but that came against a banged-up Lions team with issues in their secondary. The Cowboys will pose a bigger test for Jones, who should struggle tonight.
NFL Week 8 Prediction: Dallas Cowboys -6.5
