Can Cooper score on DEN?
Amari Cooper is certainly among the candidates for Rookie of the Year in 2015, but Cooper’s ability will be tested when the Oakland Raiders face the Denver Broncos.
According to oddsmakers at RealBets, Denver is the clear favorite at home, as the Broncos are getting odds of -7 points against the Raiders. The over/under total for the game has been set at 43.5 points. These two meet today at 4:05PM ET on CBS.
The Raiders (5-7, 6-6 ATS) are coming off a bit of a rough stretch, having lost four of their last five games, but Oakland has found a star for the future in Cooper. The rookie from Alabama has caught 62 passes for 920 yards and four touchdowns this season. His yardage total currently ranks 12th in the league. Cooper has four 100-yard games this season.
While Cooper has been a star, he faces a big challenge today against the Broncos (10-2, 7-5 ATS), who have the league’s best pass defense. Denver is holding opponents to 195.6 yards per game passing and they also hold opposing receivers to just 9.6 fantasy points per game, which is the fewest in the NFL by 4 points. The Broncos have allowed just one touchdown to a receiver this season, which doesn’t mean good things for Cooper, who has struggled to get into the end zone as is. Oddsmakers have given Coopers odds of +140 to score in today’s game and odds of +900 to score the first TD.
