Chargers vs. Giants Total Pick
Will two winless teams struggle on offense this weekend when the New York Giants host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at 1PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, New York is favored at home in this game, as the Giants are getting odds of -3 points against the Chargers. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 45 points. The Chargers have won their last three meetings with the Giants and the two have hit the over in four of their last five meetings. Sunday’s game takes place from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey and will air live on CBS.

Los Angeles fell to 0-4 last week with a 26-24 loss to the Eagles at home. The Chargers are 2-2 with the over/under this season. L.A. is giving up 23.3 points and 375 yards per game right now, including 163.5 rushing yards per game. On offense, the Chargers are putting up 18 points and 344.3 yards per game, but averaging just 67.5 yards per game on the ground. Melvin Gordon has just 168 yards to go with two touchdowns while Philip Rivers has thrown for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns. Keenan Allen has 24 catches for 334 yards.
New York fell to 0-4 with a 25-23 loss at Tampa Bay last week. The Giants are also 2-2 with the over/under total. The Giants have not looked great on offense, averaging just 15 points and 337.5 yards per game. Their rushing attack is amongst the worst in the league, averaging just 59.3 yards per game. Paul Perkins is actually the leading rusher with just 61 yards. Eli Manning has thrown for 1,113 yards and six touchdowns while Odell Beckham Jr. has caught 20 passes for 205 yards and two scores. Beckham is still battling his ankle injury while also dealing with a finger injury he suffered last week. Defensively, New York is giving up 23.8 points and 367.3 yards per game. Their run defense is allowing 142.8 yards per game.
This is an interesting matchup because both defenses can’t stop the run and yet both offenses have some of the worst ground attacks in the NFL. I think the pass defenses should hold up in this one as the offensive ineptitude seems to be outweighing the defensive ineptitude for both teams. The Giants have hit the under in five straight home games while the Chargers have hit the under in five of their last seven against a losing team.
