Chicago Bears DFS Spin
David Montgomery ran the second most pass routes among running backs in the 2020 regular season. It marks a dramatic shift in Montgomery’s pass game usage, and it likely wouldn’t have happened without Tarik Cohen’s season-ending knee injury in Week 3. Montgomery, who was 23rd in running back pass routes in 2019, was only behind J.D. McKissic in running back routes this season. Cohen ran the eighth most running back pass routes in 2019. The pass game role made Montgomery a RB1 for much of the season’s second half. Cohen is signed with the Bears through the 2023 season, so Montgomery could lose his heavy passing down usage next season.
New Orleans Saints DFS Spin
Saints activated WR Michael Thomas (ankle) from injured reserve. Thomas returns after missing the minimum three games. Whether he is anywhere close to 100 percent healthy is another matter. Thomas enters the postseason having made just seven appearances in 2020, only 2.5 of which came with Drew Brees under center. Thomas will still be a premium DFS play for Sunday’s three-game slate, but with so many variables, both his floor and ceiling are much lower than usual.
Bears vs. Saints Spread Prediction
The Bears are just 2-6 against the spread in their last eight playoff games, are 1-4 against the number in their last five conference matchups and have failed to cover in 18 of their last 24 games coming off a double-digit loss at home. Meanwhile, the Saints are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games as a favorite, are 6-1 against the number in their last seven conference games and have cashed in seven of their last nine games overall.
