San Francisco 49ers DFS Spin
C.J. Beathard will be the 49ers’ Week 16 starter at quarterback. Nick Mullens needs elbow surgery, Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) will practice but not play, and Josh Johnson is on the COVID-19 list. It means the 49ers have to hunt for a No. 2 on someone else’s practice squad. Beathard’s 11th career start will come against a Cardinals defense permitting the 12th fewest passing yards. George Kittle (foot) could be returning, but Beathard’s supporting cast will be severely limited by injury. He will struggle for QB2 relevance.

Kyler Murray completed 27-of-36 passes for 406 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, tacking on eight carries for 29 yards and a rushing score in Arizona’s 33-26 Week 15 win over the Eagles. The Eagles were short a handful of corners against Murray but he still made his job look easy, arguably having the most success of his career when throwing outside the pocket and finishing with a career-high 406 yards passing. Arizona turned the ball over twice inside the 10-yard line, fumbling on the opening possession and later tossing an interception on a miscommunication with DeAndre Hopkins (9/169/1) in the end zone, but Murray always managed to respond in averaging 11.3 yards per attempt to help the Cardinals stack 526 total yards of offense, already the third time the franchise has eclipsed 500 yards during the Kliff Kingsbury era. Murray also joined Cam Newton (2015) as the only players in league history with at least 25 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing scores in a single season. The Cardinals stayed relevant as the No. 7 seed in the NFC with this win and will attempt to tighten its grasp on a Wild Card berth in Week 16 against the 49ers.
49ers vs. Cardinals Week 16 Betting Prediction
The 49ers are 0-5-1 against the spread in their last six meetings with the Cardinals, are 1-6 against the number in their last seven games overall and have failed to cover in five of their last six games played in the month of December. The Cardinals, meanwhile, have covered the spread in four of their last five games against opponents with a losing record, are 6-2-2 against the number in their last 10 games coming off an ATS win and are 24-11-3 at the betting window in their last 38 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous contest.
