Bills vs. Bears Odds
CHICAGO, IL (The Spread) – The Chicago Bears look to pile on the offense this Sunday when they host the Buffalo Bills at 1PM ET on FOX.
Chicago was 8-8 last season, missing out on the playoffs, but dealt with injuries to quarterback Jay Cutler in the second half of the year. Buffalo was just 6-10 in the first year under coach Doug Marrone. Chicago has won two straight over Buffalo and the home team has won seven of the last eight between these two.
Trends show that the home team is 3-0-1 against the spread in the last four games between these two and Buffalo is 2-8 against the spread in its last 10 road games. The Bears hit the over in their last four games in September.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Chicago is the clear favorite, as the Bears have odds of -7 points at home against the Bills. The over/under total for the game has been set at 47.5 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had Chicago favored by 6.5 points. The spread hit a low of 6 points and a high of 7.5 during the week before settling in at Chicago -7. The over/under total opened at 49 points and hit a low of 47 during the week before settling at 47.5.
The Bears featured one of the top passing attacks in the NFL last season, averaging 267.6 yards per game. That should still be the case this season, if not get better. Jay Cutler dealt with an injury for most of the second half of the season last year, but has two top receivers in Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall. Matt Forte is also back at running back. He can fit in the run and pass game. A concern for Chicago is the offensive line, which has had trouble protecting Cutler. Defensively, Chicago had the worst rushing defense in the NFL last season, and the team lost Julius Peppers from the line to the Packers.
Buffalo has been an interesting team. At times the Bills look legit, but then the next moment they look awful. The team hopes second-year quarterback EJ Manuel can stay healthy this season and help lead the offense. The Bills had the second-best run attack in the NFL last year behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. Defensively, Buffalo was fourth in the NFL in passing yards allowed, giving up just 204.4 yards per game. However, they were 28th in rush defense. The team already took a big hit to the defense, losing Kiko Alonso, who had 159 tackles last year, for the season with a knee injury.
In terms of Injuries, Chicago has no new injuries to report. Buffalo defensive tackle Marcell Dareus could miss the game as he awaits disciplinary action while rookie receiver Sammy Watkins should play despite a rib injury.
The Public Bets for this game are currently backing the Bears, as Chicago is getting 79% of the wagers with point spread odds of -7 against the Bills on Sunday.
