Lions vs. Falcons Free Pick
LONDON, ENGLAND (The Spread) – The NFL fans in London could be treated to a defensive struggle today when the Lions take on the Falcons at 9:30AM ET.
LINE MOVEMENT: The Lions opened as 3-point favorites but the line has climbed to either 3.5 or 4 at most sports books, while the over/under total opened at 47 and has dropped to 46.5 despite the potential of this game being a high-scoring game.
SEASON RECORDS: The Lions enter play with a 5-2 record and is 4-3 at the betting window this year, while the Falcons are 2-5 straight up and a pitiful 2-5 against the spread. The combined over/under record for these teams is 9-5 in favor of the under.
Public Betting: Of the wagers currently placed on this game, 61% of NFL public bettors currently favor the Lions. This information is subject to change leading up to kickoff, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most up-to-date NFL public betting numbers.
NFL FREE PICK: Take the UNDER. Atlanta center Peter Konz was injured in the loss to Baltimore, meaning the Falcons have lost yet another offensive lineman (Sam Baker, Lamar Holmes, Joe Hawley and now Konz) to injured reserve. It also means they’re down to their third center, their second right tackle and rookie Jake Matthews is playing on a bad ankle. On the other side, the Lions’ offense continues to be somewhat suppressed without Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush, the latter of which is expected to miss today’s game. If Johnson also misses today, then look for Detroit’s outstanding front four to dictate the action against an offensive line that has held Matt Ryan and Atlanta’s offense hostage for four weeks now. The Falcons’ offense is playing nowhere near the caliber that it did a month ago when it hung 56 points on Tampa Bay at home, yet oddsmakers have failed to adjust and this total is sitting way too high.
2014 NFL WEEK 8 FREE PICK: LIONS/FALCONS UNDER 46.5
