NFC Championship Odds
(The Spread) – The NFC Playoffs are stacked with legit contenders. Here is a look at the odds to win the 2014 NFC Championship.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, the Seattle Seahawks are the favorites to win the NFC, as they have 10/11 odds. Other short odds to win are the Carolina Panthers (5/1) San Francisco 49ers (5/1) and the Green Bay Packers (15/2).
Seattle owns the top seed in the NFC after going 13-3 this season, claiming the NFC West title. The Seahawks will control their own fate at home throughout the next few weeks. Seattle was 7-1 at home this season and outscored its opponents by an average of 11.6 points per game.
Carolina earned the No. 2 seed in the NFC by winning the NFC South with a 12-4 record. The Panthers were led all year by a strong defense that allowed the second-fewest points in the conference, falling only to Seattle by 10 points. Carolina outscored opponents by an average of 7.8 points per game.
San Francisco went 12-4 this season, but is the No. 5 seed in the NFC because Seattle won the NFC West. The 49ers will head to Green Bay for a Wild Card meeting on Sunday, but San Francisco is the defending NFC champion. San Fran was 6-2 on the road this season. The 49ers outscored opponents by an average of 8.4 points per game.
Green Bay won the NFC North with an 8-7-1 record and the Packers are the No. 4 seed in the NFC. Despite the poor record, Green Bay saw most of their losses come without Aaron Rodgers under center. With him back, the team is much more dangerous and the Packers will host San Francisco in the cold weather of Lambeau on Sunday.
