NFL Week 15 Scores
Week 15 in the NFL was capped off by some amazing plays, some thrilling comebacks and of course, plenty of upsets. Continue reading to find out who covered and who didn’t this Sunday.
Indianapolis was home to the game of the day in the AFC as the Colts knocked off the Jaguars, 34-24. According to NFL Week 15 odds and oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, the Colts were 4.5-point favorites over the Jags at kickoff.
Indy covered thanks in large part to a horrendous Josh Scobee onsides kick attempt late in the fourth quarter. Instead of kicking the ball hard into the ground, Scobee dribbled it in front of him and Tyjuan Hagler returned it for a touchdown.
The Lions and Bills pulled off a couple of upsets in Week 15. Detroit was a 3.5-point underdog at Tampa Bay on Sunday but won outright in overtime, 23-20. Buffalo also won outright as a 5.5-point dog, beating the hapless Dolphins, 17-14.
In a wild game in Baltimore, the Ravens held on to beat the Saints 30-24 as a 1-point favorite. Ray Rice had an amazing day, rushing for 153 yards while Joe Flacco chipped in with 172 yards through the air.
In arguably the best comeback of the season, Michael Vick rallied the Eagles to a 38-31 victory over the Giants after New York held a 31-10 lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the game. The Eagles (+3) scored 28 points in the fourth quarter, which was capped off by DeSean Jackson’s amazing punt return for touchdown on the final play of the game.
Matt Cassel returned after a one-week hiatus due to a concussion to lead the Chiefs to a 27-13 win over the Rams. Kansas City was a 3-point underdog heading into the game and after failing behind 6-0 early, the Chiefs took control from there and never looked back.
The Falcons clinched a playoff spot thanks to the Giants’ loss to the Eagles but they also crushed the Seahawks 34-18 as a 6-point favorite. Atlanta has now covered in 10 of its 14 games this season.
The Jets shocked the Steelers 22-17 as a 5.5-point underdog on Sunday. Mark Sanchez scored New York’s first touchdown since Thanksgiving Night when he ran a bootleg to tie the game 7-7. The Jets would add a safety and a field goal in the fourth quarter to finish Pittsburgh off.
In perhaps the biggest surprise of the day, the Packers nearly beat the Patriots on Sunday night with an inspiring effort by backup quarterback Matt Flynn. But alas, a win wasn’t in the cards as New England held on to a 31-27 win despite Tom Brady only throwing for 163 yards.
