NFL Week 14 Scores & Recap

(TheSpread) – While there were a couple of surprises in Week 14 of the NFL, there weren’t a ton of unexpected upsets. Continue reading to check out NFL Week 14 scores and to see which teams covered and which didn’t on Sunday.

Of the teams many expected to cover this week, the Atlanta Falcons pounded the Carolina Panthers 31-10 and the Pittsburgh Steelers handled the Cincinnati Bengals, 23-7. According to NFL Week 14 odds and oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, the Falcons were 7-point favorites at kickoff and the Steelers were 9-point favorites, thus both covered easily.

One of the bigger favorites, the Green Bay Packers, did not cover, however. In fact, they lost outright as 7-point favorites to the Detroit Lions. Aaron Rodgers left the game in the second quarter due to a concussion and Matt Flynn was horrible in relief. The Lions’ defense flustered the usually explosive Green Bay offense and beat the Packers by a final score of, 7-3.

One of the other surprise scores in Week 14 was the outcome in Buffalo. Even though the Cleveland Browns were 1-point underdogs, many bettors thought they would handle the depleted Bills rather handily. But as Peyton Hillis rushed for 108 yards, Jake Delhomme was his usual brutal self and Cleveland lost, 13-6.

Two upsets occurred in the late games, as the Cardinals beat the Broncos 43-13 as a 4-point home underdog and the Dolphins edged out the Jets 10-6 as a 5-point dog. Miami’s offense did nothing the entire game but Mark Sanchez was awful and the Dolphins’ defense was able to keep the Jets out of the end zone. Speaking of awful, Kyle Orton couldn’t move the ball for the second straight week and there’s no doubt people in Denver will be screaming for rookie Tim Tebow’s name this upcoming week.

In what was supposed to be the game of the week, the Patriots absolutely destroyed the Bears 36-7 in Chicago. The Pats were 3-point favorites at kickoff and built a 33-0 halftime lead. They put it on cruise control in the second half as Tom Brady finished with a season-high 369 yards to humiliate the Bears.

In the Sunday night game, the Cowboys fell to the Eagles 30-27 but covered as a 3.5-point favorite as Jon Kitna found Jason Witten on a touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter.

Checking other Week 14 NFL scores, the Jaguars beat the Raiders 38-31 as 3.5-point favorites in a wild one in Jacksonville and the Redskins (+1) lost to the Bucs 17-16 on a botched extra point. The Saints also crushed the Rams 31-13 as a 9.5-point favorite and the 49ers destroyed the Seahawks 40-21 as a 4.5-point home favorite.
