Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Rams are 6-point favorites to beat the Raiders. The total, meanwhile, sits at 47.5 points. As of this writing, 66% of the public betting tickets are on the Rams to cover the point spread.
Los Angeles Rams
Rams LB Mark Barron (ankle) is doubtful for Week 1 against the Raiders. Barron's ankle injury kept him from practicing all week. He'll be out for Monday night's opener, though the Rams are otherwise healthy. Consider Barron week-to-week.
Oakland Raiders
Marshawn Lynch (groin) remained limited at Friday's practice. It's the second consecutive practice Lynch has been limited in. He's still fully expected to play Monday night against the Rams. Although he's currently being managed, Lynch will undoubtedly lead Oakland's backfield in overall usage against a Rams defense that could initially struggle to find their footing given that all starters were held out for the entirety of the preseason.
NFL Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Rams are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games but 1-6 against the number in their last seven Monday games.
Oakland
The Raiders are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games played on Monday.
Prediction
The Rams lit up the league offensively last year under Sean McVay but this total has been set too high, even with the Raiders expected to be horrendous defensively. The Rams rested all of their starters during the preseason so it could take a quarter or two for them to get back into rhythm. The Raiders could also have some trouble moving the ball offensively against a re-stacked Rams defense, that features both Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh. Donald might be on a pitch count after holding out in training camp and preseason but when he’s in, both he and Suh will provide pressure versus Derek Carr all night.
NFL Week 1 Prediction: Rams/Raiders under 47.5
