MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Running back Corey Clement is using spring practice at Wisconsin to prepare for a bigger workload and a new coaching staff.
Clement is the heir apparent in the backfield to Melvin Gordon, who bypassed his senior year to enter the NFL draft after a record-setting season.
Clement was also pretty good in 2014 with 949 yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore.
But the Badgers are in transition with coach Paul Chryst running his first spring practice after taking over for Gary Andersen. He left in December to take the Oregon State job.
Chryst does offer some continuity given that he once coordinated potent offenses at Wisconsin before a three-year stint as Pittsburgh’s head coach.
Chryst has said he likes what he sees so far in Clement, especially his work ethic.
