SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -Stanford broke one losing streak to Notre Dame last year. Now it has a chance to end another one.
The Cardinal has won only two games in South Bend, the last coming in 1992. But No. 16 Stanford (3-0) has looked impressive so far, piling up 155 points in its first three games, 68 alone in a thrashing of Wake Forest last week. The Irish (1-2), meanwhile, are struggling, with last week’s overtime loss to Michigan State on a faked field goal marking its second straight loss and sixth in the last seven games.
Notre Dame has a streak of its own it would like to end this weekend. The Irish are winless in their last 10 games against ranked teams, with four of those losses coming at home.
