HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott says sweeping changes in the NCAA can come without confrontation and with the five most powerful football conferences still competing on the field with the other five.
Scott is the latest and last leader from the big five conferences to make a public push for NCAA changes that will allow the schools with the most resources to have the more freedom to determine how they use them.
Speaking at the Pac-12’s mini-media days that lined up with its football coaches appearing on ESPN, Scott said he doesn’t consider the debate over NCAA governance as “an us vs. them situation.”
He says: “I don’t think it will be as confrontational and controversial a process as some of the reports I have heard this week.”
