HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Former Syracuse coach Paul Pasqualoni has been introduced as the University of Connecticut’s new football coach.
At a news conference Friday The Hartford Courant says Pasqualoni described his position as “absolutely the right fit.”
The Connecticut job is a homecoming for Pasqualoni, who grew up in Cheshire and was head coach and athletic director at Western Connecticut from 1982-86.
He coached at Syracuse for 14 years before moving to the NHL, working most recently as the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator.
The 61-year-old replaces Randy Edsall, who took the head coaching job at Maryland after leading UConn to an 8-5 season and a berth in the Fiesta Bowl. The Huskies lost to Oklahoma 48-20.
