TULSA, Okla. (AP) – No. 8 Oklahoma State and Tulsa are planning to start their game around midnight after a rain storm postponed it for nearly three hours Saturday night.
Officials announced that players would return to the field for pregame warm-ups around 11:55 p.m. Central time if no further lightning struck near H.A. Chapman Stadium.
Fans were encouraged to leave the stadium’s seating area and seek shelter on the concourses, at the Reynolds Center basketball arena or in their vehicles just minutes before the game was scheduled to begin.
Increasingly heavy rain moved over the stadium soon after. The stands were cleared a short time later.
As the rain tapered off, a few thousand fans returned to the stands in anticipation of the game.
