BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -LSU recruit Craig Loston has been cleared to play by the NCAA.
The defensive back had to take a course over the summer to gain academic eligibility and joined the Tigers for practice on Monday, which was the first day of class.
Coach Les Miles said the team was excited to finally get Loston on the field and added that he expected Loston to be a very productive part of a talented freshman class.
Loston, of Aldine, Texas, was rated the best high school safety in the country by several recruiting Web sites last year, including Rivals.com and Scout.com. His closing speed and sure, hard tackling made him a prized recruit as a safety. He also thrived as a receiver and kick returner for Eisenhower High School.
