FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long says no negotiations are planned regarding future football games in Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium.
Long, speaking following a meeting of the Northwest Arkansas Touchdown Club on Wednesday, was responding to questions about comments made by Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema earlier this week.
Bielema said Monday that he considered Saturday’s game against Samford, one of two Arkansas plans annually in Little Rock, a road game – a comment likely not received well in central Arkansas. The Razorbacks have played in War Memorial Stadium since 1948.
Long agrees with Bielema’s statement about the road game regarding the travel, but not in terms of environment. To help with the travel, Long says the Razorbacks will fly home after the game rather than travel by bus.
