LAKE WALES, Fla. (AP) -Josh McGregor threw for 315 yards and four touchdowns and Josh Philpart caught six passes for a career-high 195 yards with two scores as Jacksonville defeated Webber 40-24 Saturday night.
The game was delayed 2 hours, 35 minutes because of lightning and torrential rain at the end of the first quarter with the Dolphins leading 7-0.
Jacksonville (1-0) had 448 yards total offense as McGregor was 11-for-22 with two interceptions. Rudell Small added 103 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns.
Webber’s Torrence Moise hit Ryan Adams for a 12-yard touchdown with 14:53 left to cut the score to 21-18, but a two-point conversion attempt failed. Moise was 16-for-22 for 183 yards for the Warriors (0-2), an NAIA school.
Philpart caught a 54-yard pass from McGregor for a 27-18 edge with 9:17 left, then Small added a 5-yard touchdown run.
