STANFORD, Calif. (AP) -Jim Harbaugh says he wants to put an end to rumors linking him to other jobs, saying he will remain Stanford’s football coach in the future.
Television and radio reports in the Kansas City area said Harbaugh could accept the Kansas job as early as Saturday. Harbaugh issued a statement Saturday morning saying “my resolve and future proudly remains as head coach at Stanford University.”
Athletic director Bob Bowlsby said in an e-mail to The Associated Press that Harbaugh has signed a long-awaited contract extension through the 2014 season.
Harbaugh is in his third season at Stanford (8-4). He led the Cardinal to their first bowl bid in eight years and a No. 19 ranking in the poll. They will face Oklahoma in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31.
