ATLANTA (AP) -Florida wide receiver Percy Harvin was held out of Saturday’s SEC championship game against Alabama with an ankle injury.
Harvin the leading receiver and second-leading rusher for No. 2 Florida, could not recover from a sprained right ankle in time for the game, robbing the Gators of one of their top weapons.
Harvin has scored a touchdown in 14 straight games, the nation’s longest streak.
Harvin wore his No. 1 jersey and sweat pants while his teammates were in full uniform before the game. He was still wearing sweat pants and walking with a limp when he walked behind his teammates when the teams came back on the field for the game.
Harvin was the MVP of the 2006 SEC championship game win over Arkansas as a freshman, when he scored two touchdowns and rushed for 105 yards.
