GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) – East Carolina follows its opening loss to South Carolina by hosting No. 11 Virginia Tech on Saturday. It’s part of yet another tough nonconference schedule for the Pirates.
The Pirates (0-1) upset the Hokies (1-0) three years ago in Charlotte. The teams are meeting for the fifth straight season.
The game will attract a rowdy home crowd for the Pirates, though coach Ruffin McNeill wants his players focused on “doing their jobs” and not trying to do too much.
The Hokies have the chance to give coach Frank Beamer his 200th victory in 25 years at the school. They’re coming off an easy win against Championship Subdivision power Appalachian State, marking a successful debut for Logan Thomas as starting quarterback.
