EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -Oregon backup quarterback Nate Costa will require surgery because of a right knee injury suffered in last Saturday’s victory over Washington.
The surgery with end the fifth-year senior’s college career.
Costa, a stalwart leader of the Ducks, was hurt Saturday when he bobbled a field goal attempt – he also serves as the holder – and was tackled as he tried to scramble to the sideline with the ball.
Costa threw for 286 yards and a touchdown this season.
He threw for 151 yards and a score, and ran for another TD, against Washington State earlier this season when Darron Thomas left with a shoulder injury.
