CINCINNATI (AP) – Bearcats coach Butch Jones has spent the week doing heavy-duty recruiting.
No, not for players. For fans.
Cincinnati (7-2, 3-1 Big East) wants to pack its 35,000-seat stadium for a change, providing a home-field advantage for what amounts to an elimination game for the Bearcats. They need a win over No. 22 Rutgers (8-1, 4-0) to stay in contention for the league title.
A victory by the Scarlet Knights would keep them in control heading into final games at Pittsburgh and at home against No. 20 Louisville, which has lost one game in the Big East. Rutgers would get the title by winning out.
Its challenge on Saturday at Nippert Stadium is to pressure quarterback Brendon Kay in only his second career start. He replaced the struggling Munchie Legaux.
