CLEVELAND (AP) – Ohio State football recruit Chris Carter was arrested Tuesday on a sexual imposition allegation after a complaint that he fondled a girl while pretending to measure her for an ROTC uniform.
Carter, a 6-foot-4, 325-pound offensive senior lineman at John F. Kennedy High School in Cleveland, was expected to sign with the Buckeyes on Wednesday.
A police report says a 15-year-old girl told school officials on Tuesday that Carter asked her to go with him to a room, told her he was measuring her for the uniform and then groped her. It also says Carter said he had fondled other girls and gave them a book in which he had recorded their measurements.
Carter’s attorney, Harvey Bruner, says his client is innocent and “a nice kid.”
Carter spent Tuesday night in jail. Cleveland Police Sgt. Sammy Morris says he was released Wednesday pending further investigation.
Ohio State officials declined to comment on the arrest.
