JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Bobby Bowden has arrived for his final game as Florida State coach, and thousands of fans were there to greet him.
Holding an umbrella over his head with one hand and waving and pointing with the other, Bowden walked through a short parade route a little more than two hours before the start of Friday’s Gator Bowl against West Virginia.
Fans were packed six-deep along both sides of the route, many of them chanting “Bob-by! Bob-by!” and doing the familiar Seminole war chop.
Bowden announced his retirement Dec. 1. He’ll leave the game as major college football’s second-winningest coach.
