WACO, Texas (AP) -Baylor is still waiting to find out the extent of quarterback Robert Griffin’s right knee injury.
Coach Art Briles says he is hopeful “it will not be anything major” and that he was encouraged that Griffin was able to finish the first half after getting hurt on the opening series Saturday night.
Briles said during his Sunday teleconference that a planned MRI hadn’t yet been done and that he hadn’t yet seen Griffin, though he had traded text messages with the standout sophomore.
Griffin got hurt on a fourth-down play in the Bears’ 68-13 victory over Northwestern State when his leg bent under while being stopped for no gain on a fourth-down play.
After getting his knee heavily wrapped, Griffin led Bears to four touchdowns.
