NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -Sputtering out of the gate with a season-opening loss, No. 12 Oklahoma got exactly what it needed with a tuneup in Week 2.
Now, it’s time to test out whether the Sooners’ machine is running smoothly again.
Oklahoma (1-1) figured to face little resistance when it scheduled its second game against Idaho State, a Football Championship Subdivision foe that went 1-11 last season. The Sooners romped 64-0 on Saturday in what was essentially a glorified scrimmage to fix all that went wrong in the opening 14-13 loss to BYU.
Coach Bob Stoops said Tuesday that he was pleased with the Sooners’ overall fundamental play but understands that the competition will continue to get more difficult.
Oklahoma hosts Tulsa (2-0) on Saturday.
