Virginia Tech Hokies Game Notes
Virginia Tech redshirt junior QB Braxton Burmeister got the job done in the team’s 26-17 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Hokies improved to 4-4 on Saturday with a victory over Georgia Tech behind the quarterbacking of Burmeister. The signal-caller completed 15-of-25 passes for 254 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Wide receiver Tre Turner was the target who reaped the most benefits, far and away leading the VT receiving corps with seven receptions for 187 yards with one touchdown. Burmeister has been up and down and not particularly explosive, so it will be interesting to see how he continues to progress.
Boston College Eagles Game Notes
Boston College freshman QB Emmett Morehead completed 6-of-15 passes for 87 yards in a 21-6 loss to Syracuse on Saturday. Morehead and Grossel split time in this one (Grossel went 9-of-17 for 93 yards), and neither were effective. Morehead also left this game early due to a head/neck injury, but was cleared to return. Even with the benefit of playing hurt, it was a poor performance for the 6-foot-5, 229-pound signal-caller, and Grossel was barely any better. Boston College is a mess after a 4-0 start before conference play, and are back to .500 without a win in the ACC. A good chance that streak continues next week against Virginia Tech.
