UL Lafayette Ragin Cajuns Game Notes
Louisiana junior QB Levi Lewis completed 14-of-24 passes for 173 yards and a 1-1 ratio in a 30-27 loss to Coastal Carolina on Wednesday. Lewis (5’10/184) also rushed six times for 84 yards and one touchdown as Louisiana lost a well-fought battle against CCU. UL only converted four, third-downs while averaging 7.7 yards per carry on 240 rushing yards. The Ragin’ Cajuns only managed to hold the ball for 21:49 as Coastal Carolina was able to slow the game down while converting nine-of-fifteen third-downs. Lewis’ interception was an ill-advised sideline throw into double-coverage in Louisiana territory that led to a touchdown. The upset drops 21st ranked UL to 3-1 while the surging Chanticleers remain undefeated.
UAB Blazers Game Notes
UAB redshirt freshman QB Bryson Lucero completed 15-of-31 passes for 141 yards and a 1-1 ratio in a 37-14 victory over WKU on Saturday. Lucero (6’1/210) put forth another middling performance in relief of injured starter Tyler Johnston, but managed the game well enough to get the win. He didn’t stretch the field much, as his longest completion on the day went for only 18 yards. He hit star wideout Austin Watkins on a 2-yard strike for his lone touchdown pass while leaning on the running game’s 6.2 YPC. The 4-1 Blazers host SBC front-runner Louisiana next Saturday in an intriguing non-conference matchup.
