Tulsa Golden Hurricane Game Notes
Tulsa redshirt freshman RB T.K. Wilkerson has been ruled out for Thursday’s Armed Forces Bowl vs. Mississippi State due to an undisclosed injury. Wilkerson (6’2/228) was injured during Tulsa’s win over Navy on December 5, and he was not available for the team’s loss to Cincinnati two weeks later. The redshirt freshman appeared in seven games this season, starting three, and he accounted for 317 yards and four touchdowns on 80 carries. Tulsa still has Corey Taylor II and Deneric Prince to call on in the backfield, who have also carried the ball at least 80 times this season.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Game Notes
Mississippi State freshman QB Will Rogers completed 21-of-36 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns in a 51-32 victory over Missouri on Saturday. Rogers (6’2/205) has really come into his own as a starting quarterback, as the freshman has thrown for at least 295 yards in three of his last four games. He only completed 58 percent of his passes, but still managed a solid 8.2 yards per attempt average while leading the Bulldogs to a commanding 34-10 lead in the third quarter before putting it in cruise control. His best throw came on a perfectly thrown 10-yard touchdown to Brad Cumbest in the back-right corner of the end zone. The future is bright for the young signal caller, as MSU has a solid corps of true freshman to build HC Mike Leach’s air raid offense around in 2021.
