Texas falls at Iowa State
The Texas Longhorns have alternated wins and losses over their last six games and are coming off a 23-21 loss at Iowa State last weekend. Texas is now 6-4 on the season, 4-3 in the Big 12, 5-5 against the spread and 6-4 with the over.
The big issue for Texas this season has been its defense. The Longhorns are giving up 29.9 points and 449.4 yards per game. Offensively, Texas is putting up 36.1 points and 462.5 yards per contest. Sam Ehlinger is leading the offense this season with 2,914 passing yards and 27 touchdowns while also rushing for 428 yards and five scores. Keaontay Ingram is the leading rusher with 642 yards and six scores while Devin Duvernay is the top receive with 87 catches for 1,017 yards and seven touchdowns.
Baylor takes first loss
The Baylor Bears are coming off their first loss of the season last week, 34-31 at home against Oklahoma. The loss drops the Bears to 9-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Big 12. Baylor is also 6-4 against the spread and 5-5 with the over/under total.
Baylor has been pretty steady on both sides of the ball this season. The Bears are allowing just 20.5 points and 356.2 yards per game on defense while putting up 34.9 points and 444.3 yards per game on offense. Charlie Brewer is leading the team with 2,532 passing yards and 18 touchdowns while also rushing for 276 yards and nine scores. Denzel Mims is his leading receiver with 50 catches for 767 yards and 10 touchdowns. John Lovett is the team’s leading rusher with 537 yards and four scores. James Lynch is leading the defense with 30 tackles and 8.5 sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Texas
The Longhorns are 14-4 with the under in their last 18 games on grass and 23-8 with the under in their last 31 games in November.
Baylor
The Bears are 8-3 with the under in their last 11 conference games and in five of their last six games in November.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in six straight meetings with each other. Last year’s meeting featured just 40 points. Texas has been tough on offense this season, but its offense has struggled on the road lately, putting up only 27 at TCU and 21 at Iowa State. Baylor’s defense has held up through most tests and held Oklahoma to just 10 points in the first half of last week’s game. Baylor should be able to pose problems for Texas at home. While the Bears are likely to find plenty of points on offense against this bad Texas defense, I think the Baylor defense will do enough to keep the total under.
