Tech falls at Arizona
Texas Tech suffered its first loss of the season two weeks ago at Arizona, 28-14. The Red Raiders are 2-1 on the year, 2-1 against the spread and have hit the under in all three games this year.
The Red Raiders haven’t quite been the same offense we have grown accustomed to. They are averaging 32.3 points and 508.7 yards per game thus far. Defensively, Texas Tech is allowing 13.7 points and 306.3 yards per game. The offense has taken a big blow as QB Alan Bowman has a shoulder injury that has him out until mid-November. He has thrown for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns. Tech is expected to go with both Jett Duffey and Jackson Tyner against Oklahoma. T.J. Vasher is the team’s leading receiver with 18 catches for 246 yards and two touchdowns. Armand Shyne is the leading rusher with 238 yards and two touchdowns.
Oklahoma rolling along
The Sooners had an off week last weekend, but they picked up a 48-14 win at UCLA prior to that. Oklahoma is off to a 3-0 start on the season. The Sooners are 2-1 against the spread and 1-1-1 with the over/under total.
Oklahoma is dominant on offense this year. The Sooners are putting up 55.7 points and 676.7 yards per game while allowing just 19.7 points and 352.7 yards per outing. Jalen Hurts has been off to a great start with his new team. He has thrown for 880 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 373 yards and four scores. Charleston Rambo is the leading receiver with 11 catches for 251 yards and four touchdowns while Trey Sermon has rushed for 198 yards and a touchdown.
College Football Betting Trends
Texas Tech
The Red Raiders are 1-4 against the spread in their last five conference games, but 6-2 ATS in their last eight against a winning team.
Oklahoma
The Sooners are 15-6-1 ATS in their last 22 games against a winning team and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games following a win.
Prediction:
Texas Tech has been a tough out for Oklahoma in recent years, but the Red Raiders have struggled in Norman. The Sooners have covered in three straight meetings with Tech at home. Texas Tech doesn’t have as potent an offense as it has had in past seasons and the Red Raiders will need a lot of offense to compete with Oklahoma. The Sooners score at a high rate and it doesn’t appear anyone on their schedule can slow them down. Oklahoma’s defense isn’t great, but I think its good enough to stop Tech a few times at home and earn a cover.
