Texas A&M Aggies Game Notes
Texas A&M redshirt sophomore Zach Calzada completed 19-of-33 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-0 shutout of New Mexico. Calzada (6’3/190) was making his first start in the wake of Haynes King’s broken leg last week against Colorado. Though he was playing a lower-tiered FBS opponent, Calzada looked far more comfortable than last week, guiding the Aggies to the easy win. His biggest play of the day was a 70-yard bomb to a streaking Demond Demas, but his best throw was a well-placed fade in the back-left corner of the end zone to Moose Muhammad III for a seven-yard score. Calzada will face his first SEC opponent of the year when Texas A&M takes on undefeated Arkansas next Saturday.
Arkansas Razorbacks Game Notes
Arkansas redshirt sophomore QB KJ Jefferson completed 13-of-23 passes for 366 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interception in the 45-10 win over Georgia Southern. Jefferson (6’3″/240) had his best day for Arkansas by hitting career highs in passing yards and passing touchdowns. His first touchdown came when he hit Tyson Morris just over the shoulder of the Georgia Southern defender for a 13-yard score. His second he aired it out to Warren Thompson in stride for 60-yards, and his third he threw in the flat to Treylon Burks where and he did all work, but it still goes in the stat line for a 91-yard touchdown. The Razorbacks are feeling good with this 3-0 start. Arkansas will take on Texas A&M next Saturday.
